Pet Nurse
Kayla was born in Clarksville and raised in Middle Tennessee, Kayla originally pursued her education with the goal of entering human medicine. She has a tremendous love for animals as well as a passion for medicine and science. She eventually discovered veterinary medicine, allowing her to combine two of her greatest passions into a career dedicated to caring for animals and supporting their families.
Kayla joined the Blue Oasis team in 2026 because of the practice’s central location, commitment to Fear Free care, and its status as a privately and locally owned hospital. She appreciates being part of a practice that prioritizes the well-being of its patients while also creating a positive and supportive experience for their families. Her areas of interest include client communication and education, and she has a particular soft spot for patients with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), Cushing’s disease, and allergy-related conditions.
Kayla earned her Associate Degree in Biology from Motlow State Community College in 2019 before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a concentration in Physiology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2021. During her undergraduate studies, she also participated in microbiology research, further developing her interest in science and medicine.
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband, parents and two younger sisters, as well as pursuing her creative side through painting. She has a particular love for Dachshunds and is a proud pet parent to three miniature Dachshunds, Jasper, Mickey, and Minnie. Her love for the breed is hard to miss—she jokes that just about everything she owns has a Dachshund on it. Kayla is also the proud owner of Littlefoot, a bearded dragon, and Sisu, a leopard gecko, making her home a true gathering place for a variety of beloved animals.
