Dr. Noel Lucas discovered her passion for veterinary medicine while she was growing up in northern Indiana. She was raised in an environment that included animals as part of everyday life. Growing up in the Midwest, she graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and then went on to graduate salutatorian from Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Karrington Atkins was born in Augusta, GA before moving to Jackson, TN within the first year of her life. Jackson remained her hometown up until the time she left for college.
Dr. Mackenzie Haines was born in Germany and bounced around the United States for many years due to her family’s military background before they finally planted roots in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Quiles now resides in Hendersonville with her husband, two children, and their beloved pack of dogs. Her passion for veterinary medicine began at just five years old, inspired by a childhood filled with a deep love for animals—especially her dog—which motivated her to pursue a career dedicated to caring for pets and supporting the people who love them.
Laura Johnson, a native of Centerville, TN, has devoted her life to the field of Veterinary Medicine, driven by her unwavering love for both animals and the people who care for them. Her journey in this noble profession began in 2006 and has since been marked by numerous achievements and accolades, showcasing her exceptional dedication and expertise.
Cortney was born in Jewett City, Connecticut, and made the move to Tennessee with her family at the age of 10. She now calls Lebanon, TN home. From a young age, Cortney felt a strong connection to animals and knew she wanted to dedicate her life to helping them. During high school, she actively volunteered at local animal shelters, where she gained hands-on experience caring for animals of all ages, from tiny kittens to senior pets in need of extra love and attention.
Melissa was born in Massachusetts and raised in Middle Tennessee, and she now proudly calls Murfreesboro home. Her passion for veterinary medicine began through the deep and meaningful bond she shared with a beloved dog—an experience that opened her eyes to just how powerful, healing, and life-changing the human-animal bond can be.
Hailey was born and raised in Mt. Juliet and now calls Brush Creek, Tennessee home. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to work in the veterinary field. That lifelong passion became a reality when she started her first job in a veterinary clinic, where she discovered just how rewarding it is to help pets and support the people who love them.
Katherine was born in Texas but moved to Tennessee in 2001 and has lived in the Middle Tennessee area since. She currently lives in White House with her husband Alex, and their two children JR and Riley Jo. Katherine’s passion for animals started with her childhood pets and only grew as she joined the National FFA organization and agriculture classes in high school.
Alex was born in Wilkes-Barre, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and raised in White Haven, located in the Pocono Mountains. She chose veterinary medicine because she has always loved animals. As a child, she often requested field trips to pet stores to see animals and attended Nature Camp for many summers, where she also learned about wildlife. Alex joined Blue Oasis for our AAHA accreditation and Fear Free environment that prioritizes patients' mental well-being. She has a special interest in behavior, especially in reactive dogs and teaching cooperative care skills. Her goal is to bridge dog training and veterinary medicine. Alex plans to earn her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in behavior within the next few years.
Aspen was born in Heidelberg, Germany, and moved around many times during her childhood and young adulthood before ultimately settling down in Smithville, Tennessee. From a young age, she developed a deep passion for helping and caring for living beings, especially those who are helpless. Her compassion and dedication led her to start volunteering at animal shelters and rescue organizations when she was just 14 years old. This early experience inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, where she could make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals. Aspen eagerly joined Blue Oasis in September of 2024, seeking opportunities for professional growth, improved medical practices, and a workplace that emphasizes fear-free handling techniques. She has a particular fondness for feline patients, though she also loves working with dogs, finding joy in caring for all animals.
