Veterinarian
Dr. Karrington Atkins was born in Augusta, GA before moving to Jackson, TN within the first year of her life. Jackson remained her hometown up until the time she left for college.
Dr. Atkins attended the College of Charleston, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2016. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Before graduating she had the opportunity to complete her clinical rotations at Colorado State University. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Atkins moved to the Nashville area, finding her home with Blue Oasis Pet Hospital in March 2021.
She was drawn to Blue Oasis Pet Hospital, wanting to find a practice that was Fear Free certified and was even more reassured with the open concept that Dr. Lucas created.
“Any practice can be Fear Free, but not all of them let owners in to watch every step of their pet’s appointment and surgeries. I think that allowing people to see and be involved with what we are doing to their pets is so important!”
Dr. Atkins has special areas of interest in dentistry, internal medicine and dermatology. She completed her Fear Free certification in 2021.
In her personal life, Dr. Atkins is enjoying married life and her own fur babies. She has an island cat that she rescued during her time in St. Kitts and a mixed breed dog that found its way to her the year before starting vet school. When not at work, Dr. Atkins enjoys traveling, hiking, working out, spending time with her family and friends, photography and reading.
